YITI TSAI

YiTi Tsai is a Taiwanese photographer and visual artist based in Los Angeles. Her practice explores the ways bodies are observed, measured, categorized, and assigned value, with a particular interest in beauty standards, social expectations, and the subtle pressures that shape how we perceive ourselves.

Working primarily through staged photography and constructed imagery, Tsai often uses food, familiar objects, and everyday materials as metaphors for the human body. Her photographs balance visual beauty with subtle discomfort, creating carefully controlled images that appear inviting at first glance while gradually revealing an underlying psychological tension.

Alongside her conceptual practice, Tsai also works with portraiture, where her interest shifts toward individuality, presence, and the relationship between the subject and the camera. Across both constructed imagery and portraits, she is drawn to photography as a way of exploring how people are seen—and how they choose to be seen.

Tsai is currently pursuing her BFA in Photography and Imaging at ArtCenter College of Design.
